WordPress and Browser Compatibility
Future-Proofing / WordPress Software Compatibility
All of our Products are designed to be compatible with the latest available version of WordPress. We also make every effort to future-proof our Products in a variety of ways, so they'll remain compatible in future versions of WordPress too — for as long as possible.
Of course, there are exceptions. We're not perfect. We can give no guarantee that all Products will remain functional in future versions of WordPress. If something major changes in a new version of WordPress and updates or improvements are needed, they will be made available on our website and/or released to existing Customers with access to such updates; e.g., via automatic updates in your WordPress Dashboard.
Cross-Browser Compatibility / W3C Standards Compliance
Our Products support all modern web browsers. Including, but not limited to: Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome, Opera & Internet Explorer. While we strive to give every Product a seamless & near-identical experience across each of these browsers, it is impossible to compensate for the lack of web standards support (relating to XHTML & CSS) in some of these browsers; particularly with early versions of Internet Explorer®. In the case of a particular browser (or a particular browser version) not supporting certain web standards, we will include a generic workaround for that browser (when possible); which will degrade a specific function/feature gradually, and in a way that doesn't affect the user experience negatively.
WordPress / GNU General Public License (GPL)
Our Products are all licensed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL), like WordPress itself. The GPL allows both personal and/or commercial use. You are free to modify and adapt our Products to fit your purposes, or fit the purposes of your clients.
"Pro" Versions of our Software Are Comprised of (Two) Parts
- All PHP code (and integrated HTML) in the "Pro" versions of our Software has been released under a GNU General Public License (GPL) — just like WordPress itself. You can redistribute the source code and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation. Please see: http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html
-
With the exception of any Additional Acknowledgments (please see the
LICENSE.txt
file that comes with each Product); all other parts of our "Pro" Software applications; including, but not limited to: application-specific CSS/JavaScript/images, the overall design, and all support-related Services and documentation; are licensed commercially and should NOT be redistributed. For further details, please check theLICENSE.txt
file that came with the Product(s) you purchased from WP Sharks.
Unless you have our prior written consent, you must NOT directly or indirectly license, sublicense, sell, resell, or provide for free; part (2) of our "Pro" Software; or make an offer to do any of these things. All of these things are strictly prohibited with part (2) of our "Pro" Software applications.
"Pro" Software Licensing Options
Single-Site License
This license is good for one instance of the Product that you purchase. Perfect for site owners with one domain name. You gain access to a commercial Product with all pro features at an affordable rate. It's a popular choice for many. By 'Single-Site', we mean one 'instance'; i.e., you can have the Product active on one WordPress installation at a time. However, your license key can be deactivated and moved to another site as often as you like.
Note: If you run a WordPress Multisite Network with a Product activated on multiple child blogs or sub-sites within your Network (whether you use sub-domains or sub-directories), this will always require a Multiple-Site License. This is because our Products run as a separate instance on each child blog or sub-site in the Network. To clarify, a Single-Site License does NOT provide support for multiple child blogs or sub-sites, even if they do run within a single Multisite Network installation of WordPress on the same root domain. A Single-Site License is valid for one 'instance' only.
Multiple-Site License (e.g., Up to 5 Sites, or Up to 25 Sites)
This provides support for X number of Product instances, depending on what you selected during checkout. Perfect for site owners with multiple domain names, and/or those who operate a WordPress Multisite Network installation. Each of your Product instances must be installed/activated on domains that you own & operate; e.g. you cannot buy a Multiple-Site License and use it on client sites that you do not own.
Unlimited-Site (Developer) License
This license is specifically for developers that intend to use the software themselves, but also on client sites they work on. Paying once for an Unlimited-Site (Developer) license is often easier and cheaper than charging each of your clients separately, or asking them to make a purchase on their own. With this license, you pay for the software yourself. This way you can install and activate it on any number of client sites that you build now or in the future.
Support/Updates for "Pro" Software
Software License Keys
See: My Account → My Downloads for a list of your current license keys.
Products that require a license key, will ask for your license key when installing the software. By entering your license key you enable automatic updates in WordPress. When you have one of our Products installed, you can also navigate to: WordPress → Dashboard → WP Sharks. There you can activate/deactivate license keys for all themes/plugins developed by WP Sharks that are currently active in your WordPress installation.
Maximum Sites
Each license key is good for X number of sites (based on what you selected during checkout). To activate more than X number of sites, purchase the product again to receive an additional license key. Or, from the My Account → My Downloads page, you can deactivate an existing license key, for a specific site, so you can use the license key again, for a new site. For example, when moving from a development environment to a production server.
License Key Expiration
Each license key is good for X number of years (based on what you selected during checkout). When access expires you may continue to use the software for as long as you like. Automatic updates & support will stop, but you can renew for just 30% of the original purchase. You'll be notified via email when it's time.
Refund Policy (Digital Goods)
We're committed to building the best software for WordPress and we stand by our work. The following policy outlines what is required to qualify for a refund. Note that all of the Products that we build are delivered as open-source digital items (i.e., irrevocable). For this reason, refunds are granted at our sole discretion.
Qualifying for a Refund Within 14 Days
If you're having trouble, we ask that you work with and follow all advice presented by our support team in an effort to resolve the issue (e.g., attempting to reproduce problems in a clean installation of WordPress). If problems still exist, even when testing in a clean installation of WordPress, we will gladly refund your money within 14 days from the date of purchase.
Refund requests may take up to 14 days to process. Refunds are not guaranteed. All refunds will be granted at the sole discretion of WP Sharks. Absolutely no refunds will be given after 14 days from the original purchase. Please note that by purchasing a Product from WP Sharks, you agree to the terms & conditions of use, including this refund policy. While it is not possible for us to revoke access to open-source software once you have been given download access, when we issue a refund, your account will be downgraded and your license key (which provides access to future releases of the software) will be revoked.
Testing in a Clean Installation (Required): WordPress offers you lots of options! As a site owner you have the ability to mix our Products with other plugins and a theme you like best. This means your environment will be slightly different than ours. Your WordPress installation has different plugins, it has had a different history, and it's probably running with a different theme too. As you can imagine, testing every feature in each of our Products with every possible combination of plugins, and with each and every theme and server configuration that exists for WordPress, is simply not realistic. We need common ground! In fact, our policy is that we require it. Before any refund is granted we ask that you attempt to reproduce the issue in a clean installation of WordPress.
